Leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes can be difficult to diagnose as its signs and symptoms can look similar to other malignant and non-malignant conditions. Typically, patients with leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes have more frequent visits to their primary care physicians due to abnormal lab results, however, even with these increased visits, misdiagnosis can occur leading to limited options for future care.
